Due to the difficult public health situation, the State Hermitage has moved all Hermitage Days events to an online format. As a result, it has become possible to carry out all the traditional programme for these days (the opening of exhibitions, conferences, a gathering of the museum staff) while minimizing the amount of contact between participants.
Considering the high risk of coronavirus infection in public places, as well as the strong public reaction to the holding of mass events at the present moment, the State Hermitage and the city’s Culture Committee have decided to hold the 3D-mapping show on Palace Square planned for 5 and 6 December in an online regime. Combined shots filmed from different angles and at different times will produce a new-style art work that will be presented to a wide audience in social networks and television channels around the world.
On 6 December from 5.00 to 10.00 pm (UTC+3) at the start of each hour the show will be broadcast on the site of the Saint Petersburg Internet newspaper Fontanka.ru. Viewing will also be possible through Fontanka’s group in the VKontakte social network.
On 6 and 7 December, it will be possible to view the Hermitage Day in online format on the website https://hermitageday.ru every half-hour from 2.00 to 11.00 pm (UTC+3).
Concern for health and public order is inspiring us to new artistic and educational approaches, as is borne out by the record of the Hermitage’s work during the whole of the year no drawing to a close.
